Ingredients
2 sweet onions
1 cup of beer
1.5 cups of self-rising flour
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
canola oil (enough for frying)
- Dipping Sauce
¼ cup mayo
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
- Cut onions into ½ inch circles.
- In bowl 1, add ½ cup self-rising flour and toss onion circles until lightly coated.
- In bowl 2, whisk 1 cup of self-rising flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in 1 cup of beer.
- Dip flour coated onion circles from bowl 1 into bowl 2 and coat with mixture.
- Heat canola oil in a deep pan to 375 degrees. Place coated onion rings in oil. Brown each side and flip with tongs. Be sure to give each onion ring space and not overcrowd the pan.
- When you take out the onion rings, put them on a paper towel or cooling rack. Feel free to sprinkle with more seasoning.
- Dipping Sauce
- In a small bowl, combine ¼ cup mayo, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Mix together and refrigerate until ready to eat.
Notes
- These are best eaten warm & fresh! If you need to save and re-heat, use the oven for best results.
